Profile
The Broadmoor is the grand old lady of Colorado Springs. Open since 1918, this five-star resort sits at the foot of the Rockies with its own lake, championship golf, a storied spa, and a sense of occasion you feel the moment you pull up the drive. You do not have to book a room to enjoy it, and that is the local secret worth knowing.

How to enjoy it without staying over
The Broadmoor is a full resort, but some of its best moments are open to anyone.
The Sunday brunch is the classic way in. The buffet at the Lake Terrace Dining Room is a Best of the Springs honoree and the easiest way to experience the property without booking a suite. Come hungry and give yourself time.
Take the walk around Cheyenne Lake. The path that loops the water on the property is free, beautiful, and one of the prettiest short strolls in the city, especially in the evening light.
Beyond that, the resort is a gateway to some of the region’s best scenery, with golf, the spa, and easy access to the mountains just beyond the grounds.
A local’s note
My wife and I walk the Broadmoor grounds just for the pleasure of it. There are flowers everywhere and a big lake in the center you can loop on foot, and you do not have to be a guest to do it. Back when the lake froze hard we used to ice skate on it, and the resort has deep figure-skating roots. Step inside and walk the hallways too, they are lined with local artwork and photos of the famous people who have stayed here over the years. The service is the other thing everyone remembers, genuinely warm from top to bottom. It is expensive if you stay, but even a free walk of the grounds tells you why this place is a landmark.
